As one of Queensland’s earliest nature-based tourist destinations, the Sanctuary is a physical embodiment of everything the NTAQ represents: to conserve and advance our natural and cultural heritage for future generations. To support the continued expansion of our Wildlife Hospital operations, we are seeking a Veterinary Nurse Team Leader to join our highly respected team. This role involves not only providing exceptional nursing care for our wildlife patients and Sanctuary species but also leading and mentoring a dedicated team of veterinary professionals and volunteers. About the Role The Wildlife Hospital is a dynamic and fast-paced environment where your leadership and clinical expertise will shine. As the Veterinary Nurse Team Leader, you will:Provide an exceptional standard of health monitoring, clinical nursing, and husbandry careSupervise and support veterinary nurses and volunteers to ensure best practices in animal careAssist Veterinarians during examinations, clinical procedures, and surgeriesUndertake and oversee laboratory diagnostic procedures, including sample collection and storageImplement and monitor protocols for the safe capture and restraint of native and exotic speciesEnsure smooth daily operations within the Wildlife Hospital by coordinating schedules, managing resources, and maintaining high standards of careIn this leadership role, you will also promote collaboration within the team, foster a positive work culture, and ensure alignment with the Mission and Values of the broader NTAW organisation. About You To excel as our Veterinary Nurse Team Leader, you will bring:A Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent recognised qualification) and extensive experience in the veterinary industry, particularly with wildlife and exotic speciesProven leadership experience, with the ability to mentor, guide, and inspire a teamStrong clinical nursing skills and a sound understanding of zoo, exotic, and native wildlife speciesExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, allowing you to liaise effectively with team members, volunteers, and external veterinary contactsA highly flexible, cooperative, and positive attitude, with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environmentA genuine passion for wildlife and a commitment to their welfare Why Join Us? About the Role
The Wildlife Hospital is a dynamic and fast-paced environment where your leadership and clinical expertise will shine. As the Veterinary Nurse Team Leader, you will:

About You

  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to mentor, guide, and inspire a team
  • Strong clinical nursing skills and a sound understanding of zoo, exotic, and native wildlife species
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, allowing you to liaise effectively with team members, volunteers, and external veterinary contacts
  • A highly flexible, cooperative, and positive attitude, with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • A genuine passion for wildlife and a commitment to their welfare
